OIT designs and manufacturers a variety of rugged keypad and rugged keyboard products for commercial, industrial, hospital, access control and military applications. These include metal keypads, metal keyboards, rubber keypads and plastic keypads. All keypads can be ordered to be RoHS compliant.
The rugged keyboard has a weep hole design to shed liquid from spillage or intense cleaning that prevents cross-contamination. This rugged keyboard can be ordered with high speed USB output or PS/2 output. It can also be ordered with a trackball or NAV switch and now with a touchpad for a self contained curser mover. No external software is needed. Keyboard has Internal Menu for programming hidden functions and to password protect changes
The products are designed to meet harsh environmental conditions such as ATM, kiosk applications, access control and are used in hospitals to avoid cross-contamination.
A wide variety of key layouts and functions are available including L.E.D. backlighting with color combinations to suit specific customer requirements. Likewise, the electrical output can be customized, or standard X-Y matrix designs can be incorporated.
Rugged keypads and rugged keyboards can be front or rear-mounted and the rubber booted “Seal-A-Key” design is a standard feature that can be used to hermetically seal the unit from environmental contamination. Seal-A-Key L.E.D. backlit designs commonly mount from the rear and form their own seal with the silicon rubber border. These rugged keypads use metal domes under the silicon rubber boot to provide excellent tactile feedback and electrical contact to the circuit board and are NEMA 4 rated.
